Cloud Computing has been
around for years, it is a solid and proven way
for large or IT critical business to run their
computer systems. In the past it was very
expensive to build a facility and it required
very expensive and qualified IT specialists to
run and maintain the service.
Due to this fact, it was way out of the reach of
most small to medium business's, but in truth
they required it as much, if not more than big
business who at least had cash reserves to
rebuild or upgrade their system if, or more to
the point when, things went wrong.
OzPro has now taken up this challenge and
created a private cloud computing facility in Inverell
(Brisbane soon to follow).
We are not new to taking on challenging and
re-inventing concepts to help business's become
more efficient and productive. If we were not
the first company in Australia to offer fixed
cost support way back in 2002 then we were
absolutely one of just a handful doing it at the
time. People said it would never work and we
were crazy. "There is
so much more money in fixing computers after
they go wrong" many in our industry
would say. But we believed in our concept and
business model. Now some 9 years later we have
clients stretching from Far North Queensland,
all the way down the East Coast and across to
Perth. We have clients that vary in size from 3
computers to one of the top 10 transport
companies in the country. We have clients who
are IT critical and have enjoyed computer uptime
of 99.99%. (one doctors surgery has had just
9.2hrs downtime in 8 years). We have clients
who's reps are on the road communicating with
the office and their customers from their car or
home and only touch base once a week. Their
productivity increases has been huge. There are
staff who have maternity leave but want to work
casual hours from home, owners who go on world
cruises but can keep their finger on the
pulse of the business from the middle of the
Pacific or Indian oceans.
In the past we have been very careful to only
take on new clients when we were absolutely sure
we could support them to the high written
guarantee standards we set. Now with Cloud
Computing it allows us to offer another type of
service that inherits the same unmatched level
of support and reliability, but to a wider range
of clients over a wider area, and to top that
all off at an even lower cost.

Cloud
Computing Explained
|
There are many definitions
on Cloud Computing (We have attached a few links
to other sites if you are interested in reading
how wide and versatile this form of computer use
has become).
In our case Cloud Computing is a set of high end
servers linked together. With the virtual
management software we can divide these servers
into what they call Virtual Servers. Each
business is allocated it's own Virtual Server.
These virtual servers are totally invisible to
each other and run in there own world on the
server. They share the enormous power and
reliability of the server and networking
components but as far as the server software is
concerned nothing else exists in that virtual
world.
Should a server crash or the operating software
have a problem the virtual management software
will switch all the users on your virtual server
to the next server in the line with no loss of
data and very short downtime (as short as 30
seconds).
For connection in and out of the Inverell centre
there is a high speed very secure specialised
wireless network that covers the whole of the
Inverell CBD. There is also one very high speed
business grade data line for connection by
business's running Virtual Servers (this is
easily updated if traffic usage increase). In
addition to the incoming connections there is
three high speed (load sharing and fail over)
ADSL 2+ lines for Internet access from your
virtual sever. To add to the redundancy and
reliability there is a NextG backup access line.
So communication to the Virtual server is pretty
redundant and offers the best communication
options to users of our Cloud Computer centre. |

| Costing
|
Each business is a different
size and has it's own needs and requirements.
Remember there are no hardware cost, just a
setup fee to cover any software licences that
may be required and in building your Virtual
Server. Included in the weekly subscription is
full IT support during business hours (Extended
support plans are available if your business
requires it)
Average pricing for a business with 3 people who
login at the same time would be as little as $93
